Before I leave you all…

As some of you may know, I’m going back home to Brisbane for a couple of weeks. And I have lots of reading I want to catch up on while I’m there, so I’m putting myself on hiatus. (No, don’t cry, please. You’ll survive.)
Before I do leave, I want to pass on an award that I recently received from Ryan at Worsmithonia and also from Mae at Mad Bibliophile.
a. ‘The Honest Scrap Blogger Award’ must be shared.
b. The recipient has to tell 10 (true) things about themselves that no one else knows
c. The recipient has to pass on the award to 10 more bloggers.
d. Those 10 bloggers should link back to the blog that awarded them
Now I will tell you the ten true things but I can’t guarantee that nobody else knows them. I have a poor filter system when it comes to sharing personal information. Such as the fact that I have a poor filter system. (when it comes to sharing personal information.)
1. I hate birds. In my narrative writing class we workshopped one woman’s story which involved a seagull falling from the sky. Everyone felt sorry for it and I secretly hoped it would die, forgetting, for a moment that it was all fiction. Venice was hell, until we went on the gondolas and I’m still haunted by the memory of the diseased pigeon that followed me through the alleyways. *shudder*
2. I contextually analyse everything I watch, including sitcoms like Frasier. And The Nanny.
3. I try and write notes for myself for blog ideas in my Moleskine but I usually get distracted and start making up stuff. So I have to write blog posts as I come up with the idea, or I’ll forget.
4. I love going to the movies by myself. I saw Avatar 3D by myself the other night and it was amazing – I could just sit back and watch and not worry about having to share my Snickers Pods with anyone.
5. If I see a book I want, I tend to buy it, even if it means not having money for food that week.
6. (This I learned about myself last night) I cannot drink wine. It gets me far too drunk in a short amount of time. I can drink beer, and I can drink spirits, but wine has that awful ‘wait, I’m not drunk yet’-take-a-sip-’woooah room is suddenly spinning’ quality to it. We’re done mister wine sir, you and me. Over.
7. I hate fresh tomatoes (okay, most people know this). I went out for dinner last night and my penne sauce was too tomato-ey so I couldn’t finish it. Normally tomato sauce is okay because it DOESN’T taste like tomato, but this one did.
8. Despite being told I have a strong masculine presence (not sure what this actually means), I can’t seem to write from a male point of view, and this is one of my writing goals for 2010.
9. I love handwriting letters and another one of my goals is to write letters to people more regularly.
10. There are three people that I instinctively want to call when things are going terribly. Nobody else.
Now, the fun bit. Tag you’re it….gang at Five Burrough Book Review for always pointing me in the direction of groovy books and being generally witty about it.
Tag, you’re it…Rebecca at Just One More Page for being such a warm and welcoming presence in the blogosphere (and Twitter. And greetingcardland) She is one crafty little minx.
Tag, you’re it….Phill from Tooth Soup for writing so well and leaving great comments for me and for Charley and the Bar Stool (if you don’t know what that is you’ll have to check out his blog).
Tag you’re it…Terri from BrownGirl BookSpeak for being such a challenge-addict. But they’re good challenges. Ones about social justice and black literature.
Tag you’re it…J.T. Oldfield from Bibliofreak for sharing the With Extra Pulp love, and also for enviable writing quality. One smart lad-eh.
Tag you’re it…Rob from RobAroundBooks because even though his blog makes him seem way too busy and important to have time for the little blogger, he’s actually very friendly. And his site covers everything from reviews, to news and lots of stuff that totally appeals to the bookjunkie in all of us.
Tag you’re it…Maree from Just Add Books because she vlogged. And it was good, so it made me want to vlog. Haha, but seriously, she’s got some cool blogstuff going down.
Okay the rules said ten blogs but both Ryan and Mae only did seven. So yeah. I’m out of here. If you start experience With Extra Pulp withdrawal symptoms, here are a few of older posts you can read or re-read…

Merry Etcetera, see you in 2010 (unless I get really bored while in Brisbane and post something new)

NO! Don’t leeeeeaaaaavve us! You think that you can just buy me off with this award?
Then again, I’m going home for a week in a couple days, too.

Dammit! I was hoping you DIDN”T pick me. lol! I can’t be revealing secrets on the net. No, seriously, I’m a snoozefest. And you can’t stay gone too long. *sniffle*
J.T.: Going home’s great. I can’t remember ever wanting to go home as much as now. (Brisbane’s one of those ‘up-and-coming’ towns, aka not much going on)
Browngirl: Sorry! it’s totally optional yeah? And I’m sure I’ll end up getting bored and doing another post before long :P
Merry Christmas, in advance. Hope you enjoy the reading. :)
5, 6, and 9 I can relate to. The birds hatred, on the other hand….. *harsh* :))
I love my moleskines even though I use it on and off.
I can’t believe you despise fresh tomatoes! You must have suffered in Venice – birds AND tomatoes. And the bird thing is completely understandable but my hatred stems from being constantly terrorised by them. I’ve even been chased by ducks.
Completely agree with buying books immediately and the wine thing, more so with red wine. Luckily, I can’t stand red wine.
Enjoy your Christmas and New Year! :-)
Anothercookie: Thanks! Merry Christmas to you as well, can’t wait to see what you have for us in 2010 ;)
Mae: Somehow I managed to fall in love with Venice despite the prevalence of diseased birds and overuse of tomatoes :P I was drinking rose, which was worse than red because I could drink it so much faster :p I’ve been attacked by ducks! It’s the stuff of nightmares
Hmmmm…….I love wine, I think it’s the Italian blood in me. Have a good vacation and a Merry Christmas.
Ryan: I loved the chianti I drank in Florence, but that was because I ate so much food that it was a nice buzz. Merry Christmas and thanks again for the award ^_^
Your ‘truth’ about the seagull made me giggle. Enjoy catching up on your reading!
Aw! Thank you so much! :)
I loved your truth about the birds, lol. Made me wonder how you’d handle my place. My dad breeds birds and has a bird shop from our backyard…
Have fun in Brisbane!
